Obituary of Ann Kiselis

Ann Kiselis, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Albany Medical Center, with her loving, dearest son, Anthony J. Kiselis, by her side. She was born in Amsterdam, NY to the late Pranas and Juozipina Zilinskas. Ann graduated from Amsterdam High School on June 24, 1940; and then from the Commercial and Lenders Institute of New York on November 30, 1942. She lived and worked in Chicago for about two years after her marriage in 1948; and then returned to Amsterdam. Ann was the devoted and loving wife of Anthony S. J. Kiselis, whom she married on May 30, 1948 at St. Casimir's Church in Amsterdam. Ann and her husband were happily married for over forty years. In many ways, Ann was a modern-day Renaissance person, full of knowledge and talent across a broad range of subject areas; and blessed with an always-learning attitude. Ann was a Catholic of deep faith and profound religious devotion and attended Mass faithfully on all Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. She had a particular and special affinity for St. Peter's Church in Downtown Chicago; the St. Jude Center on Ashland Avenue, also in Chicago; and the Auriesville Catholic Center in Auriesville, NY. Her loving son, Anthony J. Kiselis, a Trial and Medical Malpractice Lawyer in Chicago, left his practice and career in Chicago a few years ago, to live with his Mother in Amsterdam and assist her in a multitude of ways. She is survived by her son, Anthony J. Kiselis; her nephews, Leonard R. Slaveikis, John A. Kiselis, Frank Zilinskas, Richard Piliponis, Mark M. Kiselis; her nieces, Eleanor Juozitis, Mary K. Syc, Rita Bruns, Jean McCurry; and numerous other cousins and family members. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and her sisters, Lillian Slaveikis, Sophie Vaicunas, Jean Piliponis and her brother, Ben Zilinskas. Ann worked for many years as a legal secretary for her husband, Anthony S. J. Kiselis, an Amsterdam Attorney who once served as the President of the Montgomery County Bar Association. Ann later assisted her son, Anthony J. Kiselis as a legal secretary and paralegal in many ways, even accompanying and assisting him in a courtroom appearance in Federal Court in Foley Square in Downtown New York City in October of 2016. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY. Burial will follow at St. Casimir's Cemetery.
