Obituary of Lillian C. Ambrosino

Mrs. Lillian C. Ambrosino, age 97, formerly of Gloversville, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. She had resided at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam, NY

 

She was born October 2, 1920 in Johnstown, NY, the daughter of the late Ernest and Gertrude Billington Cole.

 

A 1939 graduate of Gloversville High School, she received her training at Palmer Beauty School in Schenectady and was later employed as a beautician at McGuire's Beauty Shop. She also worked at the former Vanderesen Embroidery Shop, Ambroson Gloves, Grandoe Gloves and was a laboratory technician at Nathan Littauer Hospital for 17 years until her retirement in 1982.

 

Lillian was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. She was a four-time Commander of DAV Auxiliary #122 and was a member of VFW Auxiliary #2077. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and playing cards.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Toni Bojarczuk and her husband, Nestor of Pleasant Valley, Dutchess County; her son, Phillip Ambrosino and his wife, Kathi of Olympia, WA; two grandchildren, Dana Burckhard and her husband, Brian of Pleasant Valley and Eric Bojarczuk and his wife, Tina of Stormville, Dutchess County; four great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Natalie Burckhard and Lilliana and Margaret Bojarczuk; her half-sisters, Maureen Rosa and Diane Dahlgren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

In 2017, Lillian was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Anthony J. Ambrosino; also by her infant son, Robert A. Ambrosino in 1943; her sister, Hazel Bradbury and half-sister, Joan Hanssler.

 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 pm. Tuesday, September 18 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, NY.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville. The Rev. Matthew Wetsel will be the celebrant.

 

Interment will take follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Rd; Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.

 

Lillian's family would like to thank all the support staff at Hillcrest Spring, Wilkinson RHCF, St Mary's ER & Hospital and The Community Hospice who cared for her with such professional dedication.
