Obituary of Patricia Hernigle

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Hernigle of Van Epps Road, Fultonville died peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 surrounded by her family.  She was year old 88 years old.

A lifelong area resident, Pat was born on October 14, 1929 and was graduated from the former Wilbur Hl Lynch High School in Amsterdam.

On February 10, 1951 she was united in marriage to Eugene R. Hernigle Sr. That union lasted 48 blessed years until his passing on February 15, 1999.  She was also predeceased by her mother, Martha Brookman Youngs; her son, William Edward Hernigle; and her siblings Dawn Husted and Robert Youngs Jr.

Pat was involved in many organizations during her life.  She served as the Town of Glen Justice for ten years and was Past President of the Montgomery County Magistrate Association.  She was also a lifetime member of the VFW 562, a real estate agent, AARP Instructor, member of F.A.V.A.C., member of The Grange, 4-H Leader, TOPS Leader of the Johnstown Chapter and Past President of Beta Chi.  Pat also was an instructor at FMCC for EMT classes.  Above all, she loved her family and spending time with them.

Survivors include her six children, Holliday Straub, Frank (Kim) Hernigle, Eugene Hernigle Jr., Suzanne (Barry) Lee, Gary (Andrea) Hernigle, Christopher (Sandra) Hernigle; sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10a.m. at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville with the Rev. Christopher Welch officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 4:30p.m. until 7:30p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Montgomery County Office For Aging, 135 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.  Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
