Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Insonia of Gloversville, died Friday evening, October 19, 2018. She was 98.
She was born August 23, 1920 in Clearfield, PA, the daughter of William and Eleanor Haag Ackernecht. She worked with her husband at the family owned Insonia’s Market. She enjoyed bingo and arts and crafts. She was a loving mother to her nine children and many grandchildren.
Elizabeth was married May 25, 1940 to Orlando “Spike” Insonia who died January 21, 1999.
She is survived by nine children, Carol Akey, Yolanda Case (Kenny), Joanne DeVito, Marlene Sawyer, Joseph Insonia (Kathy) all of Gloversville, Bruce Insonia (Marilyn) of Schoharie, Mark Insonia (Marianne) of St. Petersburg, FL, Tina Travis (Charles) of Gloversville and Orlinda Drake (Bill) of Schenectady; a sister, Eleanor Soules of Gloversville; 71 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by five brothers and sisters, Emil, Robert, Leonard and Walter Ackernecht and Marie Girard-Jones; two grandsons, Blaine Shattuck and Jack Akey; three sons-in-law, William Sawyer, William DeVito and Raymond L. Akey.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.
A private graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family on Wednesday at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating.
