Obituary of Florence M Unger

Mrs. Florence M. Unger, age 101, formerly of Meco passed away November 29, 2018 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Mohawk Valley, in Ilion.

She was born May 15, 1917 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Charles and Flora Herrick. Florence was a manufacturer at the Taylor Made Company, and also a bartender for many years at the Bleecker Fish and Game Club.

In her free time, Florence enjoyed to crochet various items for her family and friends. She was a lover of horses and in her younger years she was known for raising rabbits and chickens. Florence enjoyed being able to mow her own lawn and do various outdoor activities.

Florence is survived by her four nieces; Helen Shafer (Richard), Marsha Douglas (John), Becky Baker, and Dawn Klingbeil (Don), two nephews; Harvey Herrick and Keith Herrick, two great nephews; Jack Cole and Edward Cole along with several other nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Bessie Herrick and four brothers, Ervin, Charles, Eddie and Richard Herrick.

Keeping with Florence's wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service.

Interment will take place in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home.
