Obituary of Maggie Niemczyk

  

    Margaret A.  “Maggie” Gray  Niemczyk, 73 , of Stella Lane, Amsterdam, passed away Christmas Day,  December 25, 2018 at the Glendale Nursing Home in Schenectady, NY. 

           Born on July 16, 1945 a daughter of the late Harold and Esther Lasher Gray.  She was a lifelong area resident and graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of  1963.

       Maggie was employed as a Health Care Secretary for most of her career.  She was employed by Dr. Button, Dr. Rao, Amsterdam Family Practice, the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam.

     Maggie was a member of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary and the Inman Senior Center in Amsterdam.  She enjoyed vacationing in North Carolina and going to the beach.  She made countless friends on Facebook while using her I-Pad.  She was a communiant of Historic St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.    She enjoyed painting and tending to her flower garden.   She along with her husband were avid fans of the Amsterdam Mohawks Baseball Team.  Maggie also enjoyed spending time with her furry “children” especially Willow and cat, Annie. 

     She married Michael Niemczyk and remained married for 52 years before his passing earlier this year on February 24, 2018. 

     Survivors include her two daughters, Lori Tambasco and her husband Christopher and Betsy Devillier and her wife Rebecca; four grandchildren, Abigail, Phillip, Spencer and Megan; nephews, cousins and her  "fur grandson", Tucker also survive. 

     She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan M. Fowler on October 30, 2017 and Sister, Sondra Castler on February 6, 2015.               

     Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:15AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15AM  at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Jeffrey M. L’Arche M.S. as celebrant.    Burial will take place at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery, Amsterdam.  Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 4 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Glendale Home Resident Council c/o the Glendale Nursing Home, 59 Hetcheltown Rd., Schenectady, NY 12302 and the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
