Obituary of Anthony R. Compagnone

Mr. Anthony R. "Tony" Compagnone, age 81, of Johnstown, died Wednesday evening, June 5, 2019 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville.

He was born December 25, 1937 in Gloversville, the son of Nicola and Helen Muscato Compagnone. He served in the US Navy and was later employed as a machinist by General Electric of Schenectady, NY.

Tony was a member of the Concordia Club and enjoyed his weekly card games with his friends there. An avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed watching races with his friends at Caroga Lake. He enjoyed camping across the State of New York with his family and friends. He was an avid bike rider covering 100 miles or more on the weekends. He would frequently be seen in Speculator or Wells, NY on his bike, but his main interest was his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by four children,  Mark Compagnone of CT,  Anthony Compagnone (Renee) of CA, Debra Compagnone (Michelle) of MA and  Nick Compagnone (Agnes) of NY; the mother of his children, Nancy Compagnone of CT; four grandchildren, Vincent, Analiese, Julissa and Jacob Compagnone, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Nadine Compagnone; a sister, Mary Smith; three brothers, John Compagnone, Joseph Compagnone and Theodore Compagnone.

Due to Tony's last wishes there will be no calling hours or services.

The family wishes to thank Trackside Apartments, Nathan Littauer Hospital and their Extended Care Facility and also Mountain Valley Hospice for all of their care, concern and comfort shown to Tony and his family.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penney Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
