Obituary of Robert Polk Moore

Robert Polk Moore, 61 of 425 E. 63rd Street, Manhattan, N.Y., died Friday May 17th at his home.

Robert was born on January 28, 1958 in Gloversville, N.Y., the son of John Polk Moore and Helen M. Skarupa. He graduated from Gloversville High School and SUNY Albany. He went on to receive an M.P.A. from Syracuse University Maxwell School of Public Affairs and an M.B.A. from NYU Stern School of Business.

Bob was a credit analyst in public finance for over 35 years. His career included prior employment with MBIA, Ambac and Radian. He was currently employed by National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NIAC).

He was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Church and the Princeton Club in Manhattan. He was an avid runner and for many years participated in the 5K JPMorgan Corporate Challenge. He also enjoyed photography, watching classic movies, reading, skiing, gardening and spending time with family and friends at Cape Cod.

Survivors include his brothers, John M. Moore of Olympia, WA., William P. Moore of Dennisport, MA.; sisters, Mary H. Moore of Melrose, N.Y., Elizabeth Galinsky and Sue Rolie; and nephews, Brandon J. Hall, Jeffrey M. Moore and Jonathan Galinsky.

Bob fought a courageous battle with cancer. Whether in work, running or in his personal life, Bob was always willing to “go the distance” and will be greatly missed.

There will be no calling hours. A Graveside Service will take place at 11:00 am Saturday, June 22, 2019 in the east side of Kingsboro Avenue (section 103) at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, NY; with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville, NY.
