Edward Lansburg

Obituary of Edward C. Lansburg

Edward C. Lansburg, known to friends as “Ed” or "Eddie," passed away on August 24, 2019, at the age of 85 years after a brief illness. Ed was born to Alvah and Frances Sidlauskas Lansburg on August 6, 1934 in Amsterdam NY, where he lived until his passing.

Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping in the Adirondacks and the “ponies."  He could also speak for hours (to anyone who would listen) about the benefits of vitamins and minerals.

Ed was a proud member of the National Guard for 9 years (1952 – 1961).  In 1955, as a member of Company C 105th Armed Infantry (New York State Armory in Amsterdam), he was awarded the Governor’s Cup for Marksmanship in the New York State Matches.  This trophy, established in 1893 by Governor Roswell Flower, has been coveted by marksmen through the years as the most prized of all New York State’s marksmanship awards.

In 1989, Ed retired from the Watervliet Arsenal, where he worked as an Engineering Technician Draftsman.

After retirement, Ed and friends started Wilderness Preservation Adventures / Club 52 West in Quebec, Canada, an “outfitting experience for some of the finest trophy brook trout fishing on the east coast."

Ed is survived by daughter Patrice (Edgar) Lopez of Dallas TX, son Devlin (Susan) Lansburg of Pomona NY, son Eric Lansburg of New York Mills NY, brother Alvah (Sharon) Lansburg of Amsterdam NY, brother Thomas Lansburg of Providence RI, brother-in-law Anthony Pasquariello of Wallingford CT, several nieces and nephews, and former wife and mother of his three children, Rosemary Forrest of Amsterdam NY.  He is predeceased by his sister Joan Pasquariello and brothers-in-law Ted Cocca and Frankie Cocca.

As per Ed’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held at a later date for the spreading of his ashes “Up North” in the Adirondacks.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
