Obituary of Angeline C. Marcellino

Mrs. Angeline “Angie” Caruso Marcellino, 94, of Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY died peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2019.  Born in Fort Plain, NY on January 31, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Thomas Caruso and Maria Vitelli Caruso Aldi.  She was lifelong area resident and a graduate of Canajoharie High School.

On October 27, 1945 she was united in marriage to Thomas Marcellino.  Together for 49 years, they had a wonderful marriage together.  That union sadly ended with his passing on New Year’s Day, January 1, 1994.  She was also predeceased by a great grandson, Domenic Hayden.

For 47 years, Angie and Tom owned and operated Marcellino’s Fruit Market in Fort Plain. Angie also worked for a time for the Luxuray and Beech Nut.  She was also a member of the Canajoharie Senior Citizens, The American Legion Auxiliary, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a former member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.

A devout Catholic Christian, Angie was a member of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church and a former member of St. Peter’s & Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Catherine Esther #1264.

Angie will be remembered for being a woman of great faith, family and community.  She was a “Grandmother” to many during her lifetime and her home at 78 Otsego Street was always the center for holidays, celebrations or simply dinner.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn Jenks and her husband Lee; grandchildren, Emelie Hayden and Thomas Jenks and his wife Christina; five great grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, Michael, Kaitlyn and Thomas; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 11 o’clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Fort Plain, New York, 13339.  Burial will follow in St. Peter’s & Paul’s Cemetery, Canajoharie.  A Legacy Candle Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 6:45p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie; Calling Hours will be held prior to the ceremony, beginning at 4p.m. at the funeral home.
