Obituary of Lucille R. Douglass

Lucille R. Douglass, 92, of Town of Glen, New York passed away on Saturday December 14, 2019 at River Ridge Living Facility with her loving husband and family by her side. Lucille was born on August 27, 1927 in Bagley, Michigan, the daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Wagner) Berger. She attended and graduated from Stephenson High School in Stephenson, Michigan before she began working in Chicago where she remained for three years until marrying her husband James on November 13, 1948. Together they moved to the Town of Glen in 1950. Lucille was a dedicated mother and wife and spent much of her time as a homemaker raising 10 children. She was later employed as a Senior Welfare Examiner for the Montgomery County Department of Social Services for 10 years, retiring in 1987.

Lucille was a Parishioner of the Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Tribes Hill. She was a member of the Glen Mohawk Seniors and the Inman Center where she especially enjoyed spending time with friends, quilting and playing bingo. Lucille loved traveling with her family back to her homestead in Michigan and following retirement she most looked forward to spending the winters with her husband in Florida.

Lucille is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, James Douglass, six sons; Gary (Sandy) Douglass of the Town of Glen, Michael (Ava) Douglass of the Town of Florida, Mark (Roxanne) Douglass of the Town of Glen, John (Marsha) Douglass of the Town of Mohawk, Christopher (Lynn) Douglass of Gloversville and Patrick (Mary) Douglass of Canajoharie, three daughters; Brenda (Bruce) Blender of Sprakers, Susan (John) Weber of the Town of Root and Pam (James) Hulbert of Johnstown; 23 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucille was predeceased by her son James M. (Edie) Douglass.

A private memorial service will be held at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue Amsterdam, NY 12010 at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be private.
