Obituary of Karen Ann Hauser

Mrs. Karen Ann Hauser, age 72, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 18, 2019 at her home, with her loving family by her side.

She was born August 11, 1947 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Earl and Margaret Burns Way.  On August 18, 1967, she was married to the love of her life, Thomas Hauser.  They shared 52 years alongside one another.   Karen worked as an artist for Letter Memorial, Johnstown where she created custom drawings for customer’s monuments.  She received the gift of life on December 23, 2007 when she received a Double-Lung Transplant.

Karen was a talented artist, known for her oil paintings and pen & ink drawings of landscape and ocean scenes.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and their vacations to ocean locations along the East Coast each summer.  She was also an avid gardener.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Karen is survived by her husband Thomas Hauser; their 3 sons Michael (Lori), Gregory and Jeffrey Hauser; seven grandchildren Katherine, Kerriann, Austin, Annmarie, Emily, Jacob and Abigail Hauser; two brothers Christopher and Robert (Mildred) Way; two sisters Deborah (Anthony) Roy and Jennifer Way; sister in-laws Sharon Way and Marilyn Muzzi; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, her sister Lynn Voudry, her brother Stephen Way and daughter in-law Nicole Hauser predeceased Karen.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00PM to 4:00PM, Sunday December 22, 2019 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christion Burial will take place 10:00AM, Monday December 23, 2019 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St. Gloversville with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating.

Interment will take place in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Karen’s name may be made in lieu of flowers to Donate Life New York State, 185 Jordan Road, Troy, NY 12180 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville NY 12078.
