Obituary of Barbara S. DeRose

Mrs. Barbara (Snodgrass) DeRose, 82, departed this life on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 after a long illness.  A gifted, accomplished musician, she was born in Frankfort, Indiana on March 31, 1937. She received a music scholarship to Butler University where she met the love of her life, Bert DeRose. Her dedication and passion for music filled the air as an instructor at Morrison and Putnam's Music Store, and as a lifelong church organist at St. Mary's and Mount Carmel Church. She was also active with the PTA, St. Mary's Auxiliary, Mount Carmel Choir, St. Mary’s Choir and was a very talented seamstress.

She was predeceased by her parents, James H. and Maugarite (Stewart) Snodgrass, her infant brother Stephen Mark, and recently her beloved husband, Bert DeRose.

Survivors include her children who were the joy of her life, Rev. Martin James DeRose, Michele (Brian) MacShane, Matthew (Johanna) DeRose; seven beautiful grandchildren, Tanya (Matthew) Keenan, Matthew (Lisa) DeRose, Justin MacShane, Chantelle DeRose, Shane DeRose, Marcus DeRose and Cheyanne DeRose; six precious great grandchildren, Aubrey, Zoe, Madison, James, Allison and Logan; a sister Martha (Snodgrass) Bell and a brother, Stewart Snodgrass.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, New York 12205.
