Obituary of Margaret Eleanor Bovee

Margaret E. Bovee, 90 years of age, of Gloversville, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2020 at home with the love and support of her family by her side.

Margaret was born in Johnstown, NY on November 27, 1929, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Long. She was educated and graduated in the Greater Gloversville School District. She was united in marriage to Francis C. Bovee on June 11, 1950 with whom she shared 43 years.

Throughout the course of her life she was employed by Decca Records, previously of Gloversville, NY, a bookkeeper for the various family businesses, but her most rewarding job was caretaker of many children. She was known as ‘Nanny’ not only by her many grandchildren, but to all who knew her. She was a devoted Baptist, being a member of the First Baptist Church in Gloversville until it was demolished in September 2011, and later attended Perth Bible Church and Northville Baptist Church.

Margaret was a loving, exceptional mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother and a good friend to all of those she shared her life. Her priorities, concerns and responsibilities revolved around her family. She was blessed with a loving, strong spirit, and kind attitude. Her home was always open to those in need, especially children of all ages. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing a good card game or doing a jigsaw puzzle. She found comfort with children around, sharing her experiences, singing songs, laughing or simply watching a good mystery on television. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Margaret is survived by her four children, Steven (Terri) Bovee of Gloversville, Carol (Bill) Morris of Caroga Lake, Jeanette (Hector) Jimenez of Greenacres FL, and Sherri (Vince) Coffey of Mayfield. Additionally she is survived by ten grandchildren, Tara (Mel) Perkins, Sara (John) Hines, Lori Bovee, Scott Frasier, John (Sammy) Frasier, Joshua (Ann Marie) Harrison, Jonathan (Sara) Harrison, Ryan (Torie) Richards, Taylor (Jess) Richards and Dylan (Carlea) Richards and nine great-grandchildren. Other surviving friends and extended family members include Kathy Phillips (Tom) of Broadalbin, two sisters-in-law, Pat Long and Ella Long, cousins, nieces, nephews and a special family friend, Mike Richards of Perth. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis (Frank) Bovee on February 10, 1994, as well as her five siblings.

A private ceremony will be held for Margaret on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, for family members only. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and/or donations at this time the family respectfully request that all contributions be held until the celebration of life.
