Obituary of Donald W. Fisher

Donald W. Fisher, 84, passed quietly April 21, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol (Clarey) Fisher of 31 years; sisters Helen (Bernie)
Andrzejewski and Mavis (Bucky) Baldwin; his first wife Joan (Ballweber) Joslin, his children Karen
(Pat) McHenry and Karl Fisher; his stepchildren Richard (Susan) Joslin, Cindy (Doug) Galpin, and
Scott (Beth) Joslin; grandchildren Daniel McHenry, Kimberly McHenry, Eric Fisher, Matthew Fisher,
Kasey Joslin, Clark Joslin, Chelsea (Rick) Tanner, Nicholas Joslin, Connor Joslin, Rebecca Joslin;
great grandsons Duke Tanner and Declan Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.

He was born June 30, 1935 in Gloversville, son of Donald and Eva (Arzberger) Fisher. He graduated
from Mayfield High School in the class of 1954. After High School, he served 3 years in the United
States Marine Corp. After completing the drafting apprentice program at General Electric, he served
with the company for 35+ years, in a variety of roles in the large steam turbine generator division. He
served as a deacon in the Gloversville First Presbyterian Church for many years.

He had lifelong interests in woodworking, home building and remodeling, gardening, birding,
camping and traveling. He and Carol have been generous with their time and money, spending
countless hours reading to children at Meco elementary school, sponsoring 3 children in Guatemala,
and making regular food pantry donations.

Don was happiest when around family and friends. He was warm, kind, caring and outgoing. He
loved family picnics where he could be with those he loved, having fun with everyone from the
smallest children to those he had known since childhood. He and Carol loved to travel and sightsee,
and they particularly liked to include the children and grandchildren in their adventures. He was well loved and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

A memorial service to be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
