Obituary of John J. Pasquarelli

Mr. John J. Pasquarelli, 97, of Fort Hunter, NY went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on July 1, 1922 in Amsterdam, NY the son of Italian immigrants, Sylvester and Angelina Pasquarelli.

A lifelong area resident, he attended local schools and was a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tribes Hill.  John proudly served his country during WWII on the European front with the United States Army as a military policeman.  He was injured in battle and was awarded the Purple Heart.  He was discharged in July of 1946.

When he returned home, he was reunited with his wife, Esther M. Slater Pasquarelli.  They enjoyed 54 years of a loving marriage until her passing in 1996.  He was also predeceased by his son Fred Howard; and his siblings, Louis, Frank, Josephine and Mary.

John was employed by the Perini Corporation for over 30 years working in Washington, DC, Boston, MA, and Saudi Arabia.  He took great pride in his home and enjoyed spending time with his family.  Whether you knew him as John, Dad, Grandpa or Poppy, he loved being surrounded by his friends and family.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his three children John Sylvester Pasquarelli and his wife Rose of Anthem, AZ, Sylvester “Joe” Pasquarelli and his wife Michaelyn of Glenmont, NY, and Donna Veltri and her husband Keith of Fort Hunter, NY; his sister Theresa Muscatelo and sister-in-law, Alice Pasquarelli; 9 grandchildren, Shelly Marek, Kerri Hanson, Kimberly Richardson, Stephanie Wozniak, Kristi Morreale, Melissa Pasquarelli, Beth Pasquarelli- Waltermire, Ashley Nicosia, Nichole McNamara; 15 great grandchildren, Justin, Noah, Tucker, Owen, Ethan, Andrew, Devin, Juliana, Grace, Caroline, Mary, Jordyn, Jenna, Meagan, and Josephine; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due to Covid-19 Outbreak, funeral services are private for family only.  Family is encouraged to attend but asked to observe social distancing and wear a mask.  Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery.
