Obituary of Margaret Beekman

          Margaret  “Skipper”,  “Grace”,  Beekman was called home to the Lord on May 1, 2020 after a brief illness. 

     She was born March 17, 1940 in Amsterdam , NY to the late Floyd Blood and Margaret Teabout Blood.   Margaret graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School,  Amsterdam,  in 1958.

         She is survived by her son Charles Beekman Sr. (Valerie) and daughter Tracy Rivera ( Edwin), both of Amsterdam, NY.   One sister,  Beatrice K. Blood of Schenectady, NY.   Her cherished grandchildren. Sonya,  Charles Jr. (Tracy), Harley, Joshua (Peggy), Edwin and Adobe.      She is also survived by six  great- grandchildren,  Jake, Charlie, Levi, Avery, Ezekiel, and  Makaila.  Margaret is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

     Margaret was predeceased  by her siblings: brothers,   Dr. George Herring,  Dr. Paul Herring,  Martin Blood, Thomas Blood, Robert  Herring, and Charles Herring and sisters,  Charlene Blood Ellison and Patricia Blood.    

          Margaret worked in the knitting mills in Amsterdam, NY for many years and  then went on to work for Brown Transportation as a bus monitor.    She loved being around the children.     Margaret  loved playing cards and enjoyed going to the casino to play poker.    Margaret loved her children and her grandchildren.   She enjoyed watching sports on television.   

    Due to the Covid-19 Outbreak, funeral services are private.  Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in  Amsterdam.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
