Obituary of Diane S. Darling

Diane S. Darling, 67, of Amsterdam, New York passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Born on October 6, 1952, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Clarence and Clara Szurek Holt.  She was a 1970 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was a lifelong area resident.

Diane retired from General Electric in 1982 after 14 years of service and thereafter was a stay at home mom who spent her life caring for her family and living her life for the good and happiness of others.  She was known to her family and friends to be an excellent cook and loved feeding everyone.  She was a wonderful woman, a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece and cousin. 

She is survived by her husband of 47 years Donald Darling and her two daughters Darcy Darling (Sanjay Sharma) and Danielle Darling; her two granddaughters who she loved dearly, Ella Clara Darling and Arya Sharma; brother, James (Karen) Holt; aunt, Emily Rackowski; her dearest cousins, Dolores (Rick) Yager and Dawn Szurek; lifelong friend, Deborah (Jack) Loucks; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. 

Diane was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Robert (Bobby) Holt and Ronald (Ronnie) Holt. 

Due to the Covid-19 Outbreak, services are private for family.  Those wishing to attend the burial service may attend via FB Live on the BRBS FB Page at 11a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020.  Burial will take place in the family plot at St. John’s Cemetery, Amsterdam.
