Obituary of Angelina N. Nalli
Heaven received Its newest “Little Angel” perfectly named; Angelina Colasanti Nalli .Angelina's soul left it's earthly vessel and was happily accepted by God into his eternal kingdom in the early morning hours of July 10, 2020, just two weeks short of her 97th birthday.
Born in Gloversville on July 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Enrico and Frances Cassino Colasanti. She grew up on her Italian immigrant parents' farm in a beautiful place known as Rural Grove with her four siblings. Lena, as she was known as by family and friends, and her siblings attended the local country school often having to be transported by her father's horse drawn sleigh to school during many picturesque winters. After graduating from Fultonville High School in 1943 and when the family moved to Johnstown, She traveled by the Beech- Nut bus to Canajoharie to work for the War effort making K Rations for Our brave troops.
Caroga Lake is a place where some people in those days would go and try to catch fish, But when Lena went to Sherman's to attend a dance, she caught the eye of a handsome young man named William “Boomer” Nalli. It was love at first sight and the two were united in marriage August 28th,1948.
They purchased a house on Orchard Street in Canajoharie where they raised three young lads who all turned out to be half way decent citizens. How could they not with Lena and Boomer as Parents!
After Lena's boys were all in school, she returned to work at Beech-Nut/ Life Savers working mostly in quality control in both the gum and baby foods departments until she retired.
This amazing woman worked a full time job (which she walked to every morning) took care of a house full of kids, and also found time to be a cub scout den mother, a member of the Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Rosary Society and a bowling league just to name a few.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, camping (at both Caroga and Canadarago Lakes) hunting (well, riding the roads with Boomer),playing the organ ,traveling ,and DANCING!
She met Boomer at a dance at Sherman's and they only stopped dancing when it was physically impossible to do so anymore. Even within the last year she danced a little at the nursing home a few times. She and Boomer could Jitterbug with the best in the world.
Lena's real genius was in the kitchen though, but I'm not sure if ahe enjoyed cooking as much as everyone who ever tasted any of her cooking enjoyed eating it. With no formal training she would whip up mouth-watering dishes that would rival the finest chefs in all of Italy; of course her Italian food was the best there ever was and something that will never be matched, but every Italian knows that their Mama's Italian food is the best on the planet. And while Italian cuisine ran in her blood, She was also fantastic at cooking up wild game that was always mouth watering and is also missed.
Angelina was predeceased by three of her four siblings. Older Brother Bernardo Colasanti, and Sisters Terry Colasanti Cairo,and Rose Colasanti Leyda.
She is survived by her husband William J. “Boomer” Nalli Jr.; sons William (Bill) Nalli III (Libby Amoia Nalli), John H. Nalli ,and Philip J. Nalli (Connie Kuntzsch Nalli); one sister, Dolores Colasanti; grandsons William Michael Nalli , Christopher J. Nalli (Elizabeth Lazarou),Ryan L. Post (Amanda Bernhardt )and Philip Nalli Jr; one granddaughter, Elyse Marie Nalli (Randall Hogue); three great granddaughters, Cleo Jean Nalli, Emmalee Post and Atleigh Elisabeth Post; one great grandson Luke William Post; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Family of Angelina would like to express their extreme gratitude to the entire staff of the St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent, loving care of Angelina for the past year. Their compassion, dedication and love is greatly appreciated. The area is very lucky to have a group of dedicated professionals to care for their loved ones, and we will forever be grateful for the love and care of our mother and grandmother. Especially to the group in B wing and activities, Thank You ALL!
