Obituary of Phyllis A. Holland

Mrs. Phyllis A. Flansburg Richardson Holland,  age 85, of Gloversville, went to heaven on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

She was born October 9, 1934 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late John and Anna Johnson Flansburg. She worked in nursing homes in the area and also was a self-employed home health aide for many years. She was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church, the DAV Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.  

Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of others, going out to dinner, traveling when possible, camping, going to concerts, shows and bingo. She enjoyed making her plastic canvas crafts, playing cards, Skip Bo, which was her favorite, building Legos with her great-great grandson, DJ; working in the garden and making fried green tomatoes. Sewing was a favorite pass time for her and she made monkey socks for her grandchildren. She loved collecting owls and had a large collection of them given to her over the years.

She is survived by five children, Susan Gannon and Heidi Holland of Gloversville, Holly Holland of Utica, George Richardson Jr. and Roger  Richardson of N. Fort Myers, Florida; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husbands, George Richardson Jr. and Robert Holland Sr; her parents, John Flansburg and Anna Johnson Flansburg Samrov;  five children, Rosemary Richardson,  Darlene Richardson,  Glen Richardson, Vernon Richardson and Robert Richardson Sr;  three brothers and a sister, Edward Flansburg,  Raymond Flansburg, John Flansburg and Eleanor Bronk. 

A graveside service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, at a date and time to be announced.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd. Gloversville, NY 12078.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
