Obituary of Michael D. Knoll

Mr. Michael David Knoll “Mike”, aged 68 of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on Monday September 28, 2020 at Albany Medical Center, with his family at his side.

Mike was born on September 24, 1952 in Gloversville, the son of the late Ronald and Gloria Burgess Knoll. He graduated Mayfield Central School in 1971 and attended FMCC in Johnstown.  Mike served in the U.S. Army. He served in Korea (117th Aviation Company, Germany (11th Armored Cavalry Regiment), Fort Benning, Georgia (FORSCOM, 498th Medical Battalion) and Fort Hood, Texas (52nd Aviation Regiment). He achieved the rank of Sergeant (E5) before his honorable medical discharge. His awards included: Rifle – Expert, Pistol – Marksman, Machinegun (aerial) - Marksman, Senior Airmen Wings, Good Conduct Medal with 4 knots, Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal with 3 Oak Leave Clusters

Mike was a wiz with computers, working with several companies as a programmer during his career including MVP in Albany before retiring.  He enjoyed video games, computers, and spending time with his friends, children and grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his loving daughter Jennifer (Derek) Scullin and son Jason Knoll, brother John “Jack” (Joanna) Knoll, and Sister Jean (Matthew) Ginter, precious grandchildren, Michael, Kassandra, Brendan, Alexandra, Kaiden, Spencer, Jason and Emma; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son Eric.

A celebration of life will be planned in the spring by the family.
