Obituary of Diana Konieczny

Diana "DeeDee" Konieczny, age 83, a longtime resident of Broadalbin, died Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown.

 

She was born June 25, 1937 in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Syrotiuk Kretiv. She received her Master's Degree in Education, and was later employed as a Teacher by the Broadalbin Central School District. She and her late husband, Adolph Konieczny, owned and operated Al the Photographer and Windmill Color Lab, both in Amsterdam. She was an avid musician, playing both piano and organ, and enjoyed her cats, listening to music, singing, and most of all, spending time with her family.

DeeDee was a member of St. Joseph's Church, where she was known for her talent playing the organ as well as at the First Presbyterian Church and the former St. Basil's Ukrainian Church.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy M. Healy of Pound Ridge and Eileen Trahan (Charles) of E. Rochester; five grandchildren; Emily and Julia Healy, Alyssa Trahan, Kurt Callen, and Derek (Rita) Callen.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lou Konieczny.

 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 am to 12 noon on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.

 

A private service will take place at the convenience of the family with interment to follow at St. Basil's Ukrainian Cemetery, Broadalbin.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Wells Nursing Home, Inc; 201 W. Madison Ave. Johnstown, NY 12095.
