Obituary of Rose Fraumeni

Mrs. Rose Fraumeni, 84, of Log City Road, Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020 following a brief illness.

 

A lifelong area resident, she was born Domenica Rosario Sollecito on December 29, 1935 the daughter of the late Michael and Serafina Centonze Sollecito.  She attended local schools and was an honors graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1953.

 

On November 13, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald A. Fraumeni.  That union was blessed with 51 wonderful years until his passing on November 24, 2006.  Rose was also predeceased by her daughter, Diane Fiacco; and her brothers, Vincent (Philomena) Sollecito, Michael Sollecito and Dominick Sollecito; and her sisters, Anna Zegarelli, Nellie Schaffer, Minnie Olshak, Mary Martuscello and Josie Anastario.

 

Rose enjoyed being a homemaker.  Her home was always the center of holidays, family celebrations and gatherings.  She enjoyed being a gracious host, baking and making everyone feel special.  She served as a volunteer for Amsterdam Memorial Auxiliary for over 25 years and was a board member.  She also served as the Treasurer for the Coffee Shop at Memorial and did all of the scheduling for the Gift Shop.  Following the merger of Memorial and St. Mary’s she continued serving the hospital.

 

Rose enjoyed summers at the family camp in Jefferson, NY.  She also loved day trips to The Otesaga and The Sagamore and a ride in the country. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by those she loved.

 

Survivors include her son, Joseph D. Fraumeni and his partner, Michael Guardino; her daughter, Roseanne Hall and her husband Joseph Sr.; a son-in-law, Lee Fiacco; three grandchildren, Joseph Hall Jr. (Vanessa Cianfarani), Ryan Hall, and Lauren Hall (Kristina); one great granddaughter, Malia Rose; one brother, John Sollecito and his wife Vicki; two sisters, Eleanor Hutchins and Philomena Merritt; her beloved grand dog, Savanah Rose; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church at the convenience of the family.  She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at St. Michael’s Cemetery.  A celebration of Rose’s life will take place at a later date when it is safe to gather.
