Obituary of Hon. Paul L. Wollman

Hon. Paul L. Wollman passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital.  He was 82 years old.


Paul was born on January 30, 1938 in Schenectady, New York to Max and Anna Jacobs Wollman.  Following graduation from Mont Pleasant High School in 1956, he attended Union College.  After college Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1962. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge in 1967.  After returning home, he attended Albany Law School.


Paul practiced law in Amsterdam and had a passion for helping people.  He also had the honor of being Corporation Counsel for former mayor, Mario Villa.  Paul also served as Amsterdam City Court Judge for many years.  He was also the attorney for the Valley Rural Housing Corporation as well as a member of the Board of Directors.  He also served as the attorney for both AIDA and MCIDA for many years.


When not working, Paul loved to play golf, ski and travel.  He was a car enthusiast and was passionate about his Austin Healy.  He loved to go to car shows and his Healy won numerous awards over the years.  Paul had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.


He was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Kathy Wollman.  Paul is survived by his partner of 28 years, Ms. Bonnie Cooke; his son, Joseph Wollman and his wife Susan; his granddaughters, Abby and Hannah; his sister, Elaine Zimmerman; a niece; his aunt Shirley; and many cousins.


Paul’s family would like to thank the doctors and medical staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Edward L. Wilkinson Center for the excellent care he received.


A graveside service will took place on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 10:30a.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.   

A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 4 until 6p.m. at the Raindancer Restaurant, 4582 NY-30, Amsterdam, New York 12010.  Relatives, friends and collegues are all invted to attend.
