Obituary of Anthony J. Monaco

Mr. Anthony J.  Monaco, 96, of Northampton Road passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at his home.

 

He was born on January 6, 1924 to Mr. Pasquale Monaco and Mrs. Antoinette Monaco of Ballston Spa. He attended and graduated from local schools before pursuing a degree in Engineering from Middlebury College where he was a proud member of his fraternity Delta Kappa Epsilon. Anthony enlisted in the U.S. Army in February of 1943 and was an Army Staff Sergeant, serving in the Pacific during WWII where he received the Purple Heart Medal. After his service Anthony worked for a number of years for General Electric in Schenectady, NY, retiring as a Foreman. He was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Anthony was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Virginia Tallman on February 11, 1972; they remained lovingly married for 34 years until her passing in 2006.

 

Anthony was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved being with his family. He enjoyed visiting his family in Ballston Spa, making wine with his brothers, spending time with his kids and grandkids, attending family dinners, summer barbecues, annual apple picking, baking bread, watching football games and he loved dancing to big band music. He was also an avid golfer and bowler in his early pre-retirement and early retirement years.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, Anthony was predeceased by his brothers Albert, Louis, Bernard, Donald and Harry Monaco, and his sisters Josephine Dufort, Kathryn D'Ambro, Theresa Monaco, Jenny Odorizzi and Sophie Wolfersheim.

 

He is survived by his daughter Mary (Paul) Grillo and step-daughters Theresa (Eric) Klausner, Sharon Intilli, and Karen Brick, brothers James (Cecelia) Monaco, Joseph Monaco, Pasquale (Verna) Monaco and Olivio Monaco. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Sarah McDermott, Gabrielle Brick, Jiné Maroney, Anthony Dufresne, Lillian Kramer and Hannah Klausner, great granddaughters Gianna King and Ailish Maroney as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A private Service of Remembrance will take place at the convenience of the family with Fr. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. Interment will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery with full military honors.
