Obituary of Nicholas Seren

Nicholas Seren, aged 70 of Hagaman, NY passed into eternal rest on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020.

Born in Hallein, Austria on December 31, 1949 to Alexander and Hildegarde Seren.  Nick, or “Papa” as he was lovingly known, emigrated with his family to Auriesville/Town of Glen, NY in 1950.  He was one of six children, Olga Green (Stewart) of Perth, Paul (Ida) Slansky of Fort Hunter, Helga Furtmeier (Heinz) of Germany, Jakob (Sharon) Seren of Delaware, and George (Lucia) Seren of Fultonville.

Nicholas was raised on his family’s dairy farm.  Following the untimely death of his father, he and his siblings worked tirelessly to help the family through difficult times.  A work ethic of dedication, commitment, strength, and service to others that would carry through his entire life.

In the late 1970’s, he met Patricia (nee Sollecito) Przybylowicz; the love of his life, whom he married on October 11, 1980.  Nick became stepfather to, Laura (Michael) Luck, James Przybylowicz and Paul (Christine) Praylo.  Nick had an adoring and selfless love for his three stepchildren that was beyond compare.   Nick was a proud grandfather to Michael (Mikey) and Ashley Przyblowicz, Michael and Sierra Luck, Nicholas and Eddie Praylo.

His grandchildren idolized their strong and caring Papa.  He was also a strong and loving influence to his many nieces and nephews.  Nick enjoyed his later years as a constant presence on the golf course with his friends.  Nick was a man of absolute honesty, integrity, and moral standing whose love and humor was appreciated by all who saw him for who he was.  A devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and above all, a great man whose legacy will never be forgotten and lives on in all he left behind.  Rest easy Papa, until we meet again.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place when safe gatherings can resume. Donations in his memory can be made to St. Stephen’s Church, 51 N. Pawling St., Hagaman, NY 12086 or the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Dept., 126 S. Pawling St, Hagaman, NY 12086. Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
