Obituary of Edward G. Henry

Edward G. Henry, 77, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Sunnyview Rehab Hospital in Schenectady.

He was born in Amsterdam on May 6, 1943, the son of the late Leo and Frances “Nanny” Slimek Henry. He was a Class of 1961 graduate of the Gloversville High School, was the proud owner of Ed Henry Decorating and was employed by the Gloversville Housing Authority for many years.

Ed was an avid gardener and was often found working around the Great Sacandaga Lake on his tractor.  He enjoyed going out for his favorite pizza and spending time with his friends and family.  He loved animals and had several golden retrievers, a black lab and a cat that brought him much joy over the years.

He is survived by three children, Melissa Fredriksen of Alstead, NH, Matthew VanAlstyne of Perkinsville, VT and Kelly Henry of Alexandria, VA; two grandchildren, Tyson Fredriksen of Ann Arbor, MI and Mallory Fredriksen of Charleston, SC; siblings Eleanor Kennedy of Raleigh, NC, William Henry of Auburn, NY and Helen Perrone of Gloversville; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte “Marion” Elliott.

Private service and visitation will take place at the convenience of the family at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville, with the Rev. R.W. Dr. Williams officiating.  A Celebration of Life will take place at another date when the Covid-19 Pandemic is no longer a threat.

Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
