Obituary of Stuart F. Minch

      Mr. Stuart F. Minch, 73, of Broadalbin, passed away on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.

     He was born November 5, 1947 in Amsterdam a son of the late Roger William and Rowena Stewart Minch Sr.  He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1966 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.  

He was a US Army Veteran Serving in Germany he served from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. 

    Stuart was employed as a machinist in the foundry at  the General Electric Company in Schenectady for over 38 years retiring in 2005. 

He was currently a member of the St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam and formerly of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He also was a member of the American Legion Post # 337 in Broadalbin, NY.  He was a member also of the Amsterdam Elks Lodge #101 and served on many committees within the lodge.  He volunteered at bingo, dances and many fundraisers over the years. You could always find him in the kitchen helping at the lodge.  

    Stuart was an avid bowler here in the city.  He was a member of various leagues at Kelly's Imperial Lanes and was currently bowling in the Thursday Night League.    He loved going to the Fonda Speedway and was a regular volunteer with the ambulance at the speedway. 

     He married Eleanor C. Yurgans "Peanuts" Minch on August 28, 1971.  She passed away on October 22, 2006.  Survivors include his companion of 14 years,  Bea Abraham of Broadalbin.  His daughter, Kristin P. Minch of Broadalbin,  a son, Eric Minch formerly of Broadalbin, NY.   A cherished  granddaughter, Marissa Mannix of Broadalbin.  Two brothers, Roger William Minch Jr. of Troy, NY and  James (Debbie) Minch of Amsterdam.  Nieces, Kimberly Minch and Jennifer (Chris) Sawicki.  Cousins also survive.       Stuart was predeceased also by a sister as an infant . 

        Funeral services will be held on Friday March 26, 2021 at 2:00PM at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with the  Rev. Dr. John A. Califano presiding.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam with Military Honors. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday prior to the funeral service beginning at 12:00 NOON at the funeral home.   The Elk's will conduct a service at 11:45AM at the funeral home on Friday March 26, 2021.  If attending the service and calling hours you are required to wear a mask and observe social distancing protocols for the Covid 19 pandemic.  Funeral home capacity protocols will be in effect.   In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Amsterdam Elks Lodge #101, PO Box 101, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to G.A.V.A.C., PO Box 11,  Amsterdam, NY 12010.   Please leave condolences online at www.brbsfuneral.com .
