Obituary of Vivian J. VanDerwerker

Vivian J. VanDerwerker, age 73, of Mayfield, passed away on Saturday morning, April 3, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.

 

She was born September 20, 1947 in the Town of Mayfield, the daughter of the late Edward and Florence Lawrence Gray. She was a graduate of Mayfield Central High School and was later employed as a knitter by Diana Knit and Johnstown Knitting Mill. 

 

Vivian was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed camping, fishing and TV westerns.

 

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James A. VanDerwerker; a son, Mark VanDerwerker (Jennifer) of Virginia; three grandchildren, Cole VanDerwerker, Brady Poyfair and Carly Poyfair; two sisters, Mary Jane DeVoe (Ralph) and Dorothy Trumbull (David); a son-in-law, Brian Seligman; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, Vivian was predeceased by a daughter, Leslie Seligman; a brother and four sisters, Edward Gray, Rosie Gray, Kathleen Marlitt, Paula Marlitt and Florence Achzet.

 

At Vivian's request there will be no services at this time. Cremation will take place at Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice.
