Obituary of Sheri L. Humphrey

Mrs. Sheri L. Humphrey, age 53, of Old Trail Road in Fonda, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 surrounded by the love and light of her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sheri was born on July 17, 1967 in Gloversville, the daughter of William Jodoin and Betty Johnson. She married the love of her life, Harvey Humphrey on May 9, 1987. They recently celebrated 34 years of marriage together.

Sheri was self-employed, cleaning homes in the Johnstown and Gloversville area for over 30 years. She was an avid fan of shopping and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but mostly loved being with her grandchildren. She was a homebody through and through and many days you could find her sitting in her favorite recliner, relaxing. Battling cancer for 2 years never slowed her down. She showed extraordinary bravery, never complaining. She refused to let her illness define her and fought back every day with admirable grace. Days after a treatment you could find her cleaning the house or outside doing yardwork, but mostly she loved bossing her husband Harvey around with that never-ending list of things to do. When the time came and she knew it was limited, she spent the last month of her life enjoying endless adventures and priceless moments with her family. Her love for her husband, children and grandchildren was unwavering and will always be everlasting. She was a selfless matriarch, continuously providing unconditional support and devotion to her loved ones.

Sheri was known for her strength, but also for her kindness. Always welcoming and never judging. She embraced anyone who entered her home and treated them as if they were family. She was compassion, joy and light. A second mom to many and a friend to all. The epitome of strength, grace, and love. She was one of the rare ones, so effortlessly herself, and the world loved her for it.

A wife, a mother, a Mema too,

A true legacy we will carry on for you.

She taught us love and how to fight,

She gave us strength, through the days and night.

A stronger person would be hard to find,

Such a beautiful soul, she was always kind.

She fought for us with her whole heart,

We love you more than the distance we’ll be apart.

Always giving us her very best,

Now the time has come for her to rest.

Sheri was pre-deceased by her son Harvey “Bubby” Humphrey Jr. and is survived by her husband Harvey Humphrey, their four children; Adam Humphrey (Kim), Trista  Marcellino (Marcus), Chelsea  Marshall (Jon) and Andrea Douglass (Brian); her father, William Jodoin; her mother, Betty Johnson; 12 grandchildren, Hailey MacLean, Gavin Humphrey, Greyson and Vilah Douglass, Gracie Cabral, Braven and Dylan Marshall and Sophia, Marcus, Dominick, Lorenzo and Madalena Marcellino; her three siblings, Greg, Shelly and Shelia; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
