Obituary of Wallace L. Sherman, Jr.

Mr. Wallace L. "Gator" Sherman, Jr., age 78, of Gloversville, New York, died unexpectedly on August 22, 2021 near Holy Oak, Massachusetts.

Wallace was born on July 23, 1943 in Albany, NY, the son of Wallace and Phoebe (Mattiski) Sherman. After graduating high school, Wallace found employment with the Hussman Corp. in Gloversville, where he worked for many many years. Wallace met Virginia (Comstock) Rumrill-Sherman, and after 20 years of love, they were married on July 6, 1999, and they enjoyed an additional 22 years together, totalling 42 years as a couple.

When Wallace wasn’t at work, he enjoyed a membership with the Gloversville Moose Lodge #351, loved having a good time and telling stories, especially when he was with his family.

Wallace is survived by his wife, Virginia S. Rumrill-Sherman; his children, Betty Daley, Cynthia (Jim Brady) Brownell, and Donald (Rene) Rumrill; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Wallace  Sherman Sr., and Phoebe  Mattiski .

Services for Wallace will be private, at the convenience of the family.
