Obituary of Robert C. Dabiere

        Robert C. DaBiere, 82, of Amsterdam, passed away on Tuesday September 21, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy following a brief illness. 

    Born in Amsterdam on September 18, 1939 a son of the late Salvatore and Antoinette DelCostello DaBiere.  He was a lifelong area resident and attended Amsterdam Schools.  

      Mr. DaBiere was the owner and operator of R. DaBiere Sealcoating in Amsterdam for over 40 years. He built his business one customer at a time accumulating over 3000 clients in that period. He truly was dedicated and enjoyed his work and spending time with his customers.   

    He enjoyed his lifelong friends, fishing, hunting and helping his son Rob race harness horses at many race tracks in NY for more than 20yrs. He was known in town by his white safari hat. He loved to make people laugh while he told the same jokes over and over. He will be missed by the guys at Stewarts and friends Phil and farmer Bill. If there’s grass in heaven, he will be on his tractor mowing.  He was a proud Dad and husband and would do anything for his family and friends.  

     He married Eileen Brach DaBiere on October 6, 1963.  In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his son Robert M. (Leanne) DaBiere of Amsterdam.  Two dear sisters, Angela Spagnola of Amsterdam and Dolores (Marshal) Leggiero of Amsterdam.   One cherished grandson, Jeffrey DaBiere of Amsterdam. Brother, Salvatore (Joanne) DaBiere of  Florida.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.    He was predeceased by a loving son, Jeffrey J. DaBiere in 1989 and best friend Dominick Guarneri.  

     A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday September 30, 2021 at 11:00AM at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, East Main St. Amsterdam with Father O. Robert DeMartinis presiding.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday prior to the Mass beginning at 10:00AM at the church.    At the request of the family please remember to where your mask.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.   Please leave condolences online at www.brbsfuneral.com.
