Obituary of Loretta Florian

Mrs. Loretta Maude Florian of Sprakers, NY passed away peacefully on October 6, 2021, 12 days shy of her 70th birthday, at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

 

She was born on October 18, 1951 in Amsterdam, NY to Mr. Lawrence Perron and Mrs. Alberta Mosher Perron. Loretta attended local schools graduating from Fonda Fultonville High School, the class of 1969 before attending classes at FMCC.

 

Loretta worked for several local businesses over the years including Beech Nut, Central National Bank, and later NBT Bank, and owned her own restaurant, Rainbow Garden. She retired in 2005.

Loretta was united in marriage to Mr. Russell Florian on February 16, 2002. They remained lovingly married until his passing in 2015.

 

In addition to her husband Loretta was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Perron, brother Gregory Perron, niece Nancy Lynn Swartz, son-in-law Mark Johnson, as well as several aunts and uncles.  

 

She is survived by her mother Alberta Voght, daughters; Jeanna (Todd Frost) Johnson of Vernon, VT, Laura (Cody) Silva of Merced, CA and Angela (Ed) Dornburgh of Whitingham, VT, step children; Russell (Melissa) Florian Jr., Shannon Florian, Michael  (Amanda) O'Toole, Shelley (Adam) Florian, Stacey (CJ) Palmer, Scott Florian. She also leaves behind her brothers Clifford Voght Jr. and Randy (Marion) Perron, sisters Mary (Elmer) Field, Clara (Jim) McWayne, Caroline (Ed) Swartz, aunt Betty Dillenbeck, grandchildren; Manjot, Sapan Singh, and Elija Silva, Codie and Cameron Johnson, Emma Gene, Noah, Abel, Milo, and Quinn Dornburgh, step grandchildren; Brandon and Hunter Florian, Collin Dawley, Alexis Lamphere, Anthony and Kathryn LaPorta, Irelynd Waufle, Jenna and Samantha Palmer, and Kiaira, Scott Jr., and Savannah Florian as well as her great grandchildren; Hudson Lawrence, Madelyn, and Mark Johnson in addition to her many loved and cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Loretta avidly fought COPD and MAC infection with tenacity and grace. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness and her amazingly generous and loving spirit.  Loretta shared a love of many friends, especially three very special lifelong friends dear to her heart; Joyce Darrow, Karen Lavoie, Jeannie Conte. Loretta loved to no end. She especially enjoyed going to the casino, having hot dogs, many rides and being with her mother, shopping sprees and time together. Loretta shared a special bond with her mother; they were the definition of best friends. Loretta shared coffee with friends and family and always made sure you were loved and well-nourished in her presence.

 

Loretta relished in her flower garden and her home. She was known to her family as mom, Gigi, grandma Ny or Grandma Freight Train. Loretta was everyone’s friend. Her eyes were kind, her smile beautiful, her heart was gentle and full of love, her touch comforting to all.

 

A Graveside Service will take place on Sunday October 17, 2021 at 11:00AM at Evergreen Cemetery. A Celebration of Loretta's life will take place at the Moose Lodge #853 205 Erie Blvd, Canajoharie, NY 13317 immediately following the graveside service.

 

Flowers may be sent directly to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice or a foundation of your choosing.
