Obituary of James Whipple Sr.

Mr. James Whipple  Sr., 71, of Fonda, NY passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville surrounded by his loving family.


He was born on September 19, 1950 to Mr. William Whipple and Mrs. Marjorie Worthing Whipple. James attended local schools before enlisting in the United States Army, he bravely served his country from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. He was a communicant of Fultonville Reformed Church.


James was united in marriage to Miss Carolyn Van on February 11, 1989.


In addition to his wife Carolyn, James is survived by his sons; James (Sandy) Whipple Jr. and Gordon (Carlos) Hinkle, daughters; Michelle (Meghan) McCall and Christine (Russel) Pedrick. He also leaves behind his brother Bill Whipple, sisters; Susan Schwabrow and Betsy (Art) Marshall grandsons; Brady and Colin Whipple and Russel Pedrick Jr., granddaughter Alex Pedrick and her fiance Chad Gibson as well as his great grandchildren; Jaylah, Leah, Anna, Elliana, Russel III, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.


He was preceded in death by his parents, son Milton Hinkle Jr., brother-in-law Bill Schwabrow, and sister-in-law Leona Whipple.


James enjoyed many hobbies, especially woodworking. He loved the NY Giants, and stock car racing as well as gardening, and going to garage sales where he enjoyed hunting for rare and valuable antiques. James loved having a drink with friends and spending time with his family.


A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1:00PM at Fonda Reformed Church 19 Broadway Fonda, NY 12068 with full military honors.
