Obituary of Edwin L. Queeney, Jr.

Edwin L. Queeney, Jr; age 89, of Gloversville, died Monday, January 10, 2022 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville.

He was born March 7, 1932 in Gloversville. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, Carl and Maude Queeney. He was employed as a crane operator and instructor by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #106 of Albany for 42 years, including 15 years at West Milton Naval Base, where he retired from in 1994. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Concordia Club Life Member, and Life Member of the Operating Engineers. He enjoyed raising sheep and operating a Christmas Tree Farm.

Ed is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan M. Queeney; two daughters, Lisa Queeney-Vadney of Mayfield and Linda Eberle (Dwayne) of Gloversville; five grandchildren, Matthew Hallenbeck, Meghan Retersdorf (Brian), Catherine Hallenbeck, who will be married Friday to Sam Sydow, Abigail Queeney and Alexandra Queeney; four great-grandchildren, Charlotte Hallenbeck, Henry Hallenbeck, Noah Retersdorf and Lochlan Retersdorf; half-sisters, Patricia Machold, Gail Sharpe and Jill McKinney; a half-brother, Frank Huptich; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Edwin L.  Queeney III;  a sister, Gladys Queeney and half-brother, Garth Queeney.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 am to 11:30 am Tuesday, January 18th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 noon at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Facial masks will be required.

Interment will follow at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
