Obituary of Marianne J. Sanderson

Marianne Josephine Sanderson, a woman loved by all those who knew her, passed away March 19, 2022 at her home in Tribes Hill, NY, surrounded by her family.  

A lifelong area resident, Marianne was born on January 13, 1950 to the late Frank Joseph and Marian Sarah (DeStefano) Scafidi. She was a 1967 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, and began working for Amsterdam’s New York Telephone Company where she would reside for 15 years. She also owned and operated Marianne’s Mini Mart Inc and Marianne’s Too for 16 years, both located in Gloversville. She married the love of her life Harold Copeland Sanderson at First Baptist Church in Amsterdam, NY on November 24, 1991. 

She had many hobbies including bingo, pokeno and socializing at the Horace J. Inman Center. Crafting was another love of her’s, and she operated a business at local craft shows where she was known for her candy bouquets. One thing Marianne loved the most was her family, and she always enjoyed big family gatherings for every occasion and holiday. 

She is survived by her four children Roman Singleton, Boone Singleton, Tina (Kris) Roglieri and Paula-Jo (Dominick) Giardullo; eight grandchildren, Mariah Singleton, Anthony Schiavo, Gianna Roglieri, Santino Roglieri, Roman Singleton II, Parker Singleton, Matteo Giardullo and Alessia Giardullo; brother, Francis Scafidi; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11a.m. at First Baptist Church of Amsterdam, 479 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
