Obituary of Lucy Russo

Lucy Russo, 94, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Born on December 1, 1927 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie D’Amato.

Lucy received her education at Guy Park Avenue and Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1945, and later attended the Amsterdam School of Commerce and obtained a business certificate. Lucy was ahead of her time and flourished in her career at Larrabee’s for 15 years in the accounts receivable department, and later on as an auditor at Amsterdam Savings Bank for 27 years. During her time on this earth, Lucy made a memorable and positive impact on everyone she met and the various organizations she was a part of including St. Michael’s Seniors, Zonta Club, St. Sophia's Society where she was a secretary, Savings Bank Women of the Capital District, and Bocci Club.

She was also a loyal parishioner of St. Michael’s and St. Mary’s Churches and spent many years volunteering at both. Additionally, Lucy loved her winters in Florida and playing cards and Rummikub with her dear friends and family almost every week for many years. When she wasn’t with friends, Lucy spent all of her time with family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored and loved immensely. Lucy will be missed by all, and her infectious personality will remain in the hearts of everyone forever.

She is survived by her son, Daniel J. Russo (Kelly Faville) of Hagaman, NY; her two grandchildren, Kristina Marshall (Kyle) of Hagaman, NY and Daniel A. Russo (Christina) of Arlington, VA, her great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Maverick Marshall, and Juliana Russo, and sister-in-law, Audrey Russo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and numerous friends and families whose lives she profoundly affected. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo (“Babe”) Russo, her brother, Daniel D’Amato, and her four brothers-in-law, Joseph, Louis (Elizabeth "Peachy"), Patsy, Vincent (Augusta), and Anthony Russo of Amsterdam, NY.
