Obituary of Irmgard C. Getzlaff

Mrs. Irmgard C Getzlaff, age 99, of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2022 at Saratoga Hospital.

She was born on January 15, 1923 in East Prussia, Germany. She was the daughter og the late Gustav and Auguste (Bukowski) Hofer and lived on a farm with 11 brothers and sisters.

In 1952, Irmgard, her husband Erwin, and her sister Helga came to America. Irmgard and Erwin, whom she married in 1950, settled in Glendale, Queens, New York. Irmgard worked in a garment factory as a sewing machine operator, and Erwin was a machinist. She had many fond memories, especially when family would visit and she could show them around NYC.

In 1989, Irmgard and Erwin moved to johnstown, NY to be closer to her sister, Helga, Helga's husband William, and her brother Karl who lived in Guilderland. They joined a German-American club and enjoyed many fun events with family and friends.

She is survived by her siblings Wilfried and Brigitte, along with many nieces and nephews, including Thomas Fensken, Heidi Parkes, Carol Stack, Lore Iannelli, James Fensken, Manfred Hofer, and Tom Hofer.

"TI" will be fondly remembered for her spunky personality and beautiful handmade sweaters.
