Obituary of Date Faith Farmer

Date Faith Farmer, of Amsterdam NY passed away on Saturday April 9, 2022. Born in Augusta, GA on January 25, 1934. He was the son of the late Timothy and Willie Mae Farmer. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Elizabeth, NJ. After graduating he enlisted in the US Marine Corps (March 1954 to 1957) (Korean War) -Honorable Discharged. He worked various jobs, most notable was his employment at NJ Transit, retiring after over 25 years of service as a bus driver. He enjoyed watching WWF Wrestling, and everyone could see his excitement as he watched his sons’ wrestling matches. He loved working on cars and was a Mr. Fix it. (All the screws weren’t necessary) Date married Mildred D. Chaney January 15, 1966, in Elizabeth NJ. They were married for 47 years until her death in 2013. Raising his family in Elizabeth, NJ and Linden, NJ before moving to Savannah, GA after his retirement then to Amsterdam a few years ago. He is predeceased in death by his wife Mildred, daughter Ursella M Colon, grandson Josiah Foster, parents Timothy and Willie Mae Farmer, sisters Roselee Priester, Ada Johnston, Bessie Tisdale, brothers Timothy (Bubba) Farmer, and Tyson Farmer. Date is survived by his children Bonnie Randolph of Atlanta GA, Lisa Moore (Charles) of Savannah GA, Faith Farmer Jr. (Kim) of Amsterdam NY, Linnette Farmer of Rahway NJ, Mark Farmer (Latoya) of Elizabeth NJ, Vanessa Gwyn (Donald) of Palm Coast FL and sisters Gladys Dancy Smyrna GA and Essie Farmer East Orange NJ. Date was of the grandfather of 16, great-grandfather of 17, several nieces and nephews and good friend Chris “Shorty” Ellis. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010 on Wednesday April 20, 2022 from 12 noon to 2 pm.
