Obituary of Harry Austin

Mr. Harry Austin, age 80, of Gloversville, New York, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Nathan Littauer Hospital.

He was born on October 6, 1942 in Amsterdam, New York, a son of Howard and Mary (Hazzard) Austin. Harry loved all of his friends at Lexington, and enjoyed straightening up around the house for everyone. He especially enjoyed spending time at the Bishop Burke Day program. Harry loved going fishing, going out to eat, and loved shopping. He was very personable, and had a personality that made people like him. He also enjoyed going on walks, sitting at the playground, and watching the people and birds go about their day.

Harry is survived by his brother: Robert (Lynn) Austin; a sister: Joan (Butch) VanDenburgh; and 8 other siblings; as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind all of his friends at Lexington.

He was predeceased by his parents: Howard and Mary Austin.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a period of visitation from 11:00AM to 12:00PM, on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, New York, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00PM. 

Interment will take place following the funeral at Ferndale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Lexington Foundation 465 North Perry St. Johnstown, NY 12095 .
