Obituary of Claude John Phillips

It is with profound sorrow the family of Claude John Phillips, 86, of Pattersonville, New York announces his transition from this earthly life to eternal life on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at St Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.  

He was born on July 28,1936 to Lawrence and Bertha Eels Phillips at their home in Town of Florida. He received his education in Amsterdam Schools graduating in 1954 after which he helped run the family dairy farm; Rock-Line Farms. Claude was employed by many various companies over the years including the Cady Company in Amsterdam, General Electric, NYS Office of General Service and NYS Department of Transportation as a Tractor Trailer and snowplow operator for 35 years.

Claude was united in marriage to Miss Linda Burnett on September 22, 1962. They were blessed with a son and daughter whom they raised in their home in Pattersonville. He loved farming, being a steward of the land and his animals, especially Charlie his dog buddy. He was an active member of the 4-H leadership, Farm Bureau, and the Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid N.Y. Yankees, New England Patriots and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and a good scotch sour.

Claude is survived by his wife of 60 years Linda, son Jeffrey (Donna) Phillips, daughter Jennifer Phillips, grandchildren; Michaela (Henry) Persons, Jacob (Shannon) Phillips, and Kaitlyn Phillips, sisters; Marilyn Johnson, and Joyce Bovee, great-grandchildren; Henry and Hunter Persons as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive relatives and friends at Woestina Reformed Church 1397 Main St Rotterdam Junction on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. A Service will take place at Woestina Reformed Church immediately following the calling hour with Pastor Kent McHerd officiating. Burial will take place at Woestina Cemetery followed by a reception at Woestina Reformed Church.
