Obituary of Anthony M. Condello

Mr. Anthony M. Condello, 71, of Harvard Avenue, Amsterdam died peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.

A lifelong city resident, Tony was born on August 3, 1951 the son of the late Vincent and Christine Coluni Condello. He graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1969 and attended classes at SUNY FMCC.

For 31 years, Tony was the proprietor of Tony’s Tavern on Lyon Street.  During that time, he was also employed as a City of Amsterdam Fire Fighter for 20 years until his retirement.

Tony loved Amsterdam and was proud to be a native. Throughout his life, he helped his dad with his Pidgeon Racing Team and was a long time member of Amsterdam MUNI.  He loved the game of golf, long car rides and being with friends and laughing.  He had a strong work ethic that he instilled in his family and was loved by all who knew him.  His greatest joy, was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Patricia “Patty” Gaudio Condello; his children, Anthony and Nicolle; his grandson, David; his siblings, John (Antoinette) Condello, Mary Jo Anderson (Phil Santoro), and Patricia “Patti” Condello (Nena Shaw); his Aunt Beatrice Pasicznyk; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant.
