Obituary of Ella M. Smith

Ella M. Smith, age 83, of Gloversville, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

She was born May 13, 1939 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late William and Laura (Travis) Romaine. She was employed at the former Winig Slipper Company, McSherry's Market and Chicago Markets. She was an avid card player., especially Texas Hold'Em

Ella is survived by her son, Kurt E. Smith (Laura) of Myrtle Beach, SC; her companion of 24 years, Richard Quant; five grandchildren,  Brad Kiter, Matthew Kiter, Alyssa Smith, Leandra Smith and Nikki Quant; seven great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Amy Quant; six siblings, Josephine Ward, Laura Dutcher, Beverly Colby, Ethel Meher, Walter Romaine and Steven Romaine; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elmer J. Smith Jr;  siblings, Evelyn Dutcher, William Romaine, James Romaine, Robert Romaine, Richard Romaine and John Romaine.

A private graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, under the direction of Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home.
