Obituary of Dagmar L. Piatek

Dagmar L. Piatek, 78, of Amsterdam, New York passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Born in Braunlage, Germany on February 29, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Maria (Bopp) Junga. In addition to her parents, Dagmar is predeceased by her brother Hans Junga.

Survived by her loving children Andrea (Al) Suarez of New York, New York, and Johnny (Kimberly) Piatek of Boise, Idaho. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren whom she loved so dearly, Lindsey Cotton, Bryce Cotton, Jaxon Piatek, and Hartley Piatek. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ingrid Junga, her nephew Hans Junga, and niece Margrit Bowhall. 

During her lifetime Dagmar was a huge Yankee fan and especially loved watching Derek Jeter play. She was an avid bowler, incredible German cook, and enjoyed knitting, making the most beautiful scarfs, hats, and blankets for her immediate family. Above everything else, Dagmar enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was known by all for her kindness, warming presence, and great sense of humor. Her welcoming and warm smile touched everyone’s heart and made their days that much brighter. 

A celebration of life service will take place at a later date and will be announced. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
