Gary Barmen

Obituary of Gary N. Barmen

Fonda - Gary N. Barmen, 59, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, following a brave battle with cancer, with his wife Dani by his side.

Gary was born on October 23, 1963, in Huntington, NY, to Norman and the late Sandra (Maguire) Barmen. As a child, Gary attended Faith Bible Academy until transferring to Canajoharie High School. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree from both Johnson and Wales College and In Christ International Bible College.

He spent much of his life serving the community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Rural Grove VFD, Fonda VFD and Town of Glen VFD.

Through his life, Gary had an unwavering faith in God. In 2019 he was ordained, and his passion became serving as a Pastor at Love City Church in Gloversville. Gary was an anointed man of God and had a grateful heart to the people he witnessed to, and the many lives touched.

Gary’s family was always a great source of pride for him, and he loved spending time with them. He is survived by his loving wife, Dani (Quillinan) Barmen, whom he married on June 4, 1988; his children, Courtney (Jason Dufel) and Joshua (Michelle Straw); his father, Norman; brother, Eric and sister, Amanda; his grandchildren, Zach, Sam, Max, Heath, Payton, Trent and Owen; his great grandchild, Charlotte. Gary was predeceased by his mother, Sandra and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Gary’s greatest wish was that everyone would accept the Lord into their life so they could spend eternity with him in Heaven.

The family will be hosting a memorial service at a later date. Memorial donations in Gary’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box, 6704, Hagerstown, MD, 21741; Love City Church, 521 N. Main Street, Gloversville, NY, 12078 or to your local fire department.

Well done you good and faithful servant. Until we see you again, I can only imagine. Psalms 91:14.
