Obituary of Theodore A. Darrow

        Mr. Theodore A. "Ted"  Darrow, 74, of Fultonville,  passed away on  Saturday March 11, 2023 at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, NY following a long illness. 

    Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 25, 1948 the son of the late Dewey and Marion Woodbeck Darrow.  He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.

    Ted served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1969.   His unit received a Presidential Citation for exemplary service in country.  He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal in 1969.

    He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for several companies in the Fonda-Fultonville area including the Cady Co in Amsterdam. 

     He married Terrie Ambridge on August 10, 1985.  In addition to his wife Terrie  of Charleston, NY,   he is survived by his two sons,  Russell "Bridget"  Darrow  and  Christopher Darrow all of Charleston, NY.   Two brothers, Dewey Darrow of Vermont and Douglas (Joyce) Darrow of Fultonville, NY.  Two cherished grandchildren, Keegan and Shawna Darrow of Charleston, NY.   Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

    Ted enjoyed being with his family, stock car racing and hunting. 

    Military Honors will be held on Friday April 14, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY.   Patriot Guard Riders will escort Ted to the Cemetery.  Assembly will take place on Friday April 14, 2023  at 10:00 AM at the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home parking area, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY 12072.  Entombment will follow in the Columbarium Wall at the Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 942, 2495 NY 30-A , Fonda, NY 12068 or to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd. Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209.
