Obituary of Faith E. Keller

        

      Mrs. Faith E. Keller, 95, of Amsterdam, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

      Born on February 27, 1928  in Los Angeles, California the daughter of the late Frank and Mildred Frederica Alvina (Haseman) Husted.   Faith lived in Los Angeles for two years until her family relocated to Syracuse, NY.   She attended Nottingham High School and Blodgett Vocational Business School.

     Faith was first employed as a Medical Transcriptionist/Librarian for Syracuse General Hospital.   Later she worked for Union College in Schenectady as the Assistant to the Director of the Schaeffer Library until she retired in 1989.   Faith was a member of the Woestina Reformed Church in Rotterdam Junction, NY.  She was also a member of the Norge Star, Sonner of Norge ( Sons of Norway), Ta-Wa-Si Christian Women's Organization, Women's Guild for Christian Service (Woestina Reformed Church), Boy Scouts of America(Den Mother), Girl Scouts of America,  (Brownie/Girl Scout Leader), served as Secretary of the Union College Staff Association, served as President of the PTA at Woestina Elementary School.

     On August 28, 1948 she married John H. Keller who passed away on October 7, 1984.

    She was also predeceased by her mother Mildred Richards; father Frank Eugene Husted, brother,  Frank Eugene Husted; father and mother in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Keller Sr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Ann Marie and David Mowers. 

     Faith is survived by her six children, Victoria Elaine Fryc (Timothy),  Kathleen Anne Natole (Thomas), Gretchen Louisa Ludgate (Peter), John "Jack" Henry Keller (Jo-Ann), Stephan Clarke Keller (Charmaine) and Kirsten Marie Weisheit(partner Martin McTague); nine grandchildren, Shawn Thomas Natole (Cristina), Jennifer Lynne Mohring (Michael), John Everett Keller, Justin Daniel Keller (Kelly), Anna Louisa Weisheit, Jeffrey Martin Keller, Robert Christopher Weisheit, William Ludgate and Henry Peter Ludgate; seven great- grandchildren, Maximillian, Madeline, Maverick and Michaela Mohring,  Anthony and Christopher Natole,  John and Riley Keller and Justin C. Keller.   A sister, Mary Gail Noren (Craig); several nieces and nephews including, Kari Noren Hoshal,  Cristina Noren Tweed;  LeeAnn Mowers Downing; David and Paula Mowers.     

      Faith loved her family dearly and was involved in all her children’s activities as they were growing up.  She was a strong believer in education for her children and always preached to reach for your dreams. Faith was proud of her Viking heritage (Norwegian/Danish/Scandinavian) and always told so many stories to her children of all the famous Vikings and Gods.  She and her husband Jack were members of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and would often be seen on their boat the “Skip Jack” cruising on the Mohawk River and Sacandaga Lake.  Faith loved hockey and was a loyal season ticket holder to the Union College Men’s Hockey Team attending Home and Away games.

     Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 25, 2023 at 3:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Rev. Kent McHeard presiding.   The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday prior to the funeral service from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.   Interment will be later in the spring in Woestina Cemetery, Main St. Rotterdam Junction, NY.    Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Friends of Union College Schaeffer Library or to the Garnet Blades (Union College Men’s Hockey Program) in care of the Records Department, Union College, 807 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.  Please leave condolences online at www.brbsfuneral.com
