Obituary of Joseph Semione, Jr.
Joseph Semione, Jr., age 91, of Gloversville, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
He was born January 6, 1932 in Gloversville, the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Pedone) Semione Sr. He was a1949 graduate of Gloversville High School and immediately began working at Wood & Hyde Leather Corp; where he was employed until he retired. He also worked part-time at the former Kobuskie Lanes Inc. Joe enjoyed playing cards at the Gloversville Senior Center. He was a Section Two Baseball Umpire and was a member of the Capital District Umpires Association. He was also a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit.
Joe is survived by his wife of 42 years, Yolanda (DiMaio) Semione; a granddaughter, Emily Harris; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Oldham (Josh); a great-great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Oldham; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe loved his two cats, Peanut and Buddy.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Carole Marie "Rio" Semione; and all nine of his siblings, Louis Semione, Rose Frank, America "Jake" Semione, Patsy Semione, Arthur Semione, Anna Lavender, Virginia Fiorito, Gloria Perrella and Elizabeth "Betty" Grich.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 pm Friday, March 31st at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 153 S. Main St; Gloversville, with the Rev. Donald Czeluzniak officiating.
Interment will take place in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd; Gloversville or to the Church of the Holy Spirit 151 S. Main St. Gloversville, NY 12078.
