Obituary of Domingo Serrano

Domingo "Dominick" Serrano, 74, of Amsterdam, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville with his loving family by his side.

He was born on January 26, 1949, in Jayuya, Puerto Rico to Jose Serrano and Juanita Rosado Serrano and moved to Amsterdam in 1967. In Amsterdam, Dominick worked at Bojud and Adirondack Knitting for 30 years until he retired due to illness. He was an extremely hard worker who was proud to teach his strong work ethic to his children. In his spare time, he loved to be outside. Dominick enjoyed the beauty and peace of the Adirondacks, the country, and farm life. He loved to garden and enjoyed fishing, cookouts on the beach, dancing, and listening to Spanish music.

Dominick is survived by his children; Jeannette (Miguel), and Lydia (Luis) both of Puerto Rico, Dominick of Pennsylvania, John Edwards of North Carolina, Sandra (William), Michael (Kimberly) of Amsterdam, Jose (Kathleen) of Gloversville and Josephine of Schenectady. He also leaves behind 25 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

His surviving sisters include Florence and Beatriz of Amsterdam and Milagro of Puerto Rico. He is survived also by his Girlfriend, Amparo Feijo of Colonie.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers Augustin, Miguel, and half-brother Eduardo.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, the Hospice Staff of St Peter's Hospital, and Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville for their dedication, care, and compassion.

Relatives and Friends are invited to calling hours which will take place on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave Amsterdam, NY 12010. A Service of Remembrance will take place at 5:00 PM immediately following with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Dominick's family plot in Puerto Rico.
