Obituary of David Clifford Van Alstyne

Fonda-The lord came and took David Clifford Van Alstyne on May 4, 2023 at home surrounded by all of his family.

Born December 30, 1946, in Amsterdam, NY to William and Sara Van Alstyne. He was the matriarch, leader, teacher and rock of his family.

David attended Fonda Fultonville Central School. David started working on the Lund Farm on Stone Arabia Rd in 1960 and in 1983, David purchased the Lund Farm from his mentor and boss, Fred Lund. The farm and family were David’s pride and joy, and he was happy never leaving. David worked part time at the Town of Mohawk where he made lifelong friendships.

David is predeceased by his parents, William and Sara Van Alstyne; brother, William Van Alstyne; sisters, Arlene Hinkle and Catherine Michaels. He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Eva Wilbur Van Alstyne; his three daughters, Anna Wilder (Paul Luft), Deborah Wilmot (Anthony) and Arlene Widrick (Matthew); grandchildren, Christopher Wilmot (Heather), Brittany Wilmot (Shannon), Owen Widrick, Oliveia Widrick; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Wilmot, Kaidyn Wilmot, Noah McDonald, Allison McDonald; several nieces and nephews.

No formal services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at the Van Alstyne Farm on June 17th, 2023, at 1pm.

Donations can be made in David’s honor to the Glen Animal Hospital, 26 Burley Road, Fultonville, 12072, as David was an animal lover and leaves behind his loving cat, Scooter.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, 12072.
